| Description: | This position is a part-time (0.5 FTE) and the schedule would be 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m, with the future possibility of the hours being 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
The MRI Technician interprets a physician�s instructions, and explains MRI procedures to patients. The MRI Technician changes imaging parameters and selects software options while adjusting the MRI scanner. |
| Duties: | 1. Performs MRI procedures at a technical level, requiring minimal supervision, while maintaining the needs of patients of all ages.
2. Utilizes and maintains the MRI machine to the specifications of the manufacturer.
3. Monitors the patient�s condition before and after the scan to ensure patient safety and comfort.
4. Explains the testing procedures to the patient.
5. Positions and instructs the patient about the preparation for the MRI test.
6. Enforces magnetic field safety for MRI patients, operator and visitors.
7. Maintains patient log, equipment service manual, delivery schedule and all related statistics.
8. Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPPA guidelines.
9. Maintains credentials and continuing education.
10. Promotes an environment of teamwork, customer service and positive communication.
11. Knowledge & use of Sphere for patient records. Completes clerical work relating to patients.
12. Complies with department/hospital quality improvement activities.

| Qualifications: | EDUCATION
� Registered by American Registry of Radiological Technologists. (R.T. ARRT)
� MRI Certification
EXPERIENCE
� Minimum of 2 years experience performing MRI images
� CT experience desired
SKILLS
� Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy of the head, thorax and abdomen, physiology and MRI technology practices and procedures.
� Familiar with specific MRI coding systems.
� Works well with others.
� Works under general directions with little supervision.
� Ability to understand oral and written instructions stated in medical and radiologic terms.
� Uses time efficiently maintaining Department cleanliness and order
� Mechanical abilities helpful
� Works in minimum of two modalities in department
� Knowledge of ACR certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequent: Reaching from Above Shoulder to Floor Height, Walking, Pushing/Pulling from 0# to 400#, Lifting/Carrying from 0# to 25#, and Crawling/Kneeling/1/2 Kneeling/Stooping/Crouching/Squatting
Occasional: Fine Manual Dexterity, Pivoting, Repetitive Movement, Patient transfer 0# to 100#, Sitting/Balancing/Standing and Climbing
